New Features!
(Updated: Nov, 2010)

  • Free Self-Support Courses are designed to help you explore your grief on your own. They are not a substitute for professional services of any kind.

  • Grief Talk is a member commentary forum where you can add brief daily comments and reply to comments posted by other members. This a resource for members to engage in a conversation about their journey with grief, including coping and healing.

 Basic Information
Getting Started

The following step-by-step guidelines help you set-up your account features so you can begin building your friends network, chatting, and using the resources we provide. You can complete these steps at your own pace; this is YOUR grief and healing space to utilize as you see fit.

We often reference the "blue task bar" and "gray task bar." Here is a sample image from MyGriefSpace.Net of what we are referring to:

Top:

 Blue Task Bar >

Bottom:

 Gray Task Bar >

  1. When you signed up for your new account, you were able to set-up your basic profile and upload a member photo of yourself, which we highly recommend you do so others can identify you. All of these features can be edited after signing up.

If you do not wish to upload a photo of yourself, you may also choose to upload a picture of your loved one or use an avatar or other picture instead.

  2. Once you are a member, you can login and click "My Profile" at the top of any page to edit your profile which includes a personal, social and business profile that others can view to read about you. You may also limit access to who can read your information.

  3. Once your profile is complete, we suggest you start by uploading pictures of your loved ones, or other images you wish to include (family, friends, etc). See My Photos

  4. After uploading your photos, a good next step is to build a tribute to your loved one(s). You tribute can be text-only, or you can include photos. See My Tributes and Add Photos.

  5. Once your tributes are compete, you can similarly complete My Favorites and My Bio.

  1. Select any avatar below and right click on the image.
  2. Click "Save Picture As" and save it to your desktop or other location on your computer.
  3. Login to your account at MyGriefSpace.Net
  4. Click "My Handshakes" then "My Photos" on the blue task bar.
  5. Use Upload Photo to locate and upload your avatar or other image.
  6. Select "Make This My Main Image" and "Upload"

NOTE: Some members choose to upload pictures of their loved one, instead of their own to represent their account. This of course is completely up to you.

The Member Flea Market is located in the Classifieds and is a place to Buy, Sell and Trade goods such as books, arts & crafts, music, etc. Seller can upload an image of the items they are selling and use the Paypal button tool for fast payments, if desired. SELLERS can create their own "booth" (page) to list items as follows. Please note that if you are using Paypal, you must round up or down to the nearest dollar for sales and shipping per their policies.

Additionally, sales are not allowed without an image. If you do not have a photo of your products, we suggest using a logo. If you need help, contact support@mygriefspace.net and we will be happy to assist you):

(Be sure to let all your friends, family, group members, etc. know you have added a SELLERS page and how to access it according to BUYERS instructions above):

SELLER STEPS (You will first set-up your flea market page, then secondly add items).

  1. Go to "Classifieds" page.

  2. Click the button titled "Create Classified Ad"

  3. From the "Category" dropdown menu choose "Member Flea Market" and a "Subcategory" (arts/crafts, books/tapes/music, clothing & accessories, incense/oils/candles, jewelry, other stuff).

    EXAMPLES:

    -Brief Description Example

Beautiful hand-knitted items from Jane Doe - Custom Orders accepted if you need something extra special.

    -Full Description Example

    About My Flea Market Booth

I am happy to offer the following items at great prices with low shipping and hope you will what you are looking for in my flea market booth:

    -Grief and Healing Books
    -Miscellaneous Books
    -Music & DVD's (grief and non-grief related)
    -Jewelry
    -Miscellaneous New & Used

Seller accepts Paypal or Money Orders and will provide shipping insurance at cost upon request on items over $10.00.

Complete the set-up steps & add a general photo that represents your whole Flea Market, if desired, then click "Create"

(Note: The photo you add at this stage is your main Flea Market Page photo (it represents your entire flea market page, not just one item). So if you are planning on selling more than one you might use a picture of something more general See photo samples below. You will be able to add photos of individual items later.

  1. On the last set-up page, click "Send Email Notices" or "Cancel" and you will land on a page with a button that says "Add New Item".

  2. Click "Add New Item" to add your item(s). This is where you add the actual item(s) and a photo of each item. If you used a photo of an actual item in step 4, you may reuse it here or use another picture.

Here are some examples that would be good, fun general pictures to represent your Flea Market Page as a whole - though you can certainly use whatever you like including actual photos. All images must be in .gif or .jpg format to upload:

IMPORTANT TIP: You can delete items you have added for sale, but you cannot edit them so please carefully check your spelling and content when adding new items to avoid having to delete them and starting over if errors are made. Sorry, it's just the way the script works.

ADDING NEW ITEMS: Sellers can add new items once their Flea Market page is set-up so there is no need to set-up a new page each time you want to sell something. Think of your Flea Market page as a "booth" or space at a flea market where you sell many items from one location. No drop shipping is allowed (seller must physically possess any items they are selling).

To add new items at any time:

1. Go to Classifieds

2. Click "My Classifieds"

3. Click the TITLE of the Classified to edit (do not click "Edit" for Flea Market pages - the "edit" link works with all other Classifieds except Flea Market feature).

4. Click "Add New Items" (this button is only visible to the Seller so other visitors cannot add items to your page).

That will take you to the area to add items, prices, shipping, and generate a Paypal link.

DISCLAIMER: MyGriefSpace is not responsible for any listings, or any buying or selling activity in the Flea Market, and all transactions are strictly between members (the buyer and the seller). However, anyone participating in any activity the site admin or moderators deem to be unethical or illegal may be permanently banned from our site.

Sorry - NO DROP SHIPPING sales are allowed. Sellers must physically possess items they are selling. Insuring shipments is strongly encouraged to protect both parties.

Once you have done it once or twice you will find it only takes moments to jump back and forth to the My Photos page and back to the page you are working on to retrieve and add photo addresses (http://www...).  And remember, if you make an error, you can always re-do it.

 Pen Pals

We frequently receive requests from members asking how they can contact other members who have experienced a loss similar to their own, so you can be assured that others are looking to talk about their losses. Why not safely post a CLASSIFIED notice in our Pen Pal area if you would like others to contact you from within the security of our members-only community?

Simply login to your account, then go to Classifieds on the BLUE task bar. Then choose the topic "Pen Pals" in the lower right-hand column to create a new classified. You can then INVITE others to read it, and other members can also view it when they visit the Classifieds pages.

*Always exercise caution and good judgment when corresponding with anyone you do not know.

Advanced Search (Member Advanced):

Search Advanced allows you to narrow your search for other members to Types of Loss, how losses occurred, astrological signs, special interests, and much more. Once a list of members is returned in response to your search, you can contact them all at once or individually.

To conduct an advanced search go to the "Search" page and click the "Members Advanced" button directly beneath the blue taskbar. Scroll down and select specific boxes for your search. Remember, the less you check, the more specific your search results will be, so generally less is better.

NEW:   Now you can send a group message to the list of members returned on each page in the search results. You will notice an "EMAIL ALL" button at the top of the list on each page. If the results return more than one page, and you want to send a group message to everyone, you must re-send the message to the group list on each page. In other words, if the results returns three page of members, you would need to send it to the the list on each page - or a total of three times.
